This web site contains data for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) modelling of Swedish waste management. It constitutes part of the documentation of project 3 “Environmental Assessment of Policy Instruments".

As being part of a larger reaserch program, the aim of this project is to assess the life-cycle environmental impacts of waste policy instruments that will be proposed by another project (project 1 “Policy instrument formulation") within the program. As a means to achieve this, waste and environmental process data of the Swedish waste management system will be collected, and a LCA model of Swedish waste management will be implemented in a generic LCA-tool.

Making data publicly available at a web site is part of the documentation of the project. It contributes to the transparancy of our research. We expect that this open and easily accessible form of documentation will appeal to those who are interested in the results of the reaserch program in general and in LCA of waste management in particular. Possibly, it will also spread some knowledge about LCA of waste management.

Please note that this site is not intended as a comprehensive data portal for LCA of waste management. Only data that were used in this project is presented. Some of the data has been developed within the project, but most has been collected from other sources.

We strongly recommend that data is only used by experienced LCA practioners.

NB The database will be constantly developed during the entire span of Towards Sustainable Waste Management. Currently it does not contain any process data.
